Antioxidant vitamins help protect the body from oxidative stress and free radical damage—a key factor in aging and the development of chronic diseases. This combination is used to prevent or manage conditions where oxidative damage contributes to cell and tissue injury, including coronary heart disease, certain cancers, premature aging, and free radical effects caused by exercise, illness, medications, pollution, radiation, and pesticides.
Each component plays a distinct but complementary role in maintaining cellular health and boosting the body’s defense mechanisms.
β-Carotene: Functions as a precursor of Vitamin A and neutralizes free radicals by quenching singlet oxygen—a highly reactive form of oxygen. It supports vision, immune function, and cellular differentiation, and may offer protection against some cancers.
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid): A potent antioxidant that scavenges free radicals, particularly in plasma, lung fluid, and interstitial fluids. It enhances immune cell activity, supports antibody synthesis, and aids in collagen production and wound healing. It also promotes the conversion of proline to hydroxyproline and dopamine to noradrenaline, and improves iron absorption at higher doses (1–2 g daily).
Vitamin E (Tocopherol): Protects cell membranes from lipid peroxidation by neutralizing peroxyl radicals. It works synergistically with Vitamin C and β-carotene, preventing oxidative damage and protecting Vitamin A from degradation. Vitamin E also helps counteract the harmful effects of smog, cigarette smoke, and environmental toxins.
Adults: 1 tablet daily, or as directed by a registered physician.
β-Carotene: Generally safe. Excessive intake may lead to hypercarotenosis, causing temporary yellowish skin discoloration (harmless and reversible).
Vitamin C: High doses may cause gastrointestinal discomfort or kidney stone formation.
Vitamin E: Usually safe, though large doses (>800 mg/day) may cause abdominal cramps, diarrhea, fatigue, or mild hypertension.
Reduced absorption: with cholestyramine, colestipol, and neomycin (affects β-carotene absorption).
Decreased Vitamin C levels: with oral contraceptives, tetracycline, or aspirin due to altered absorption or metabolism.
Vitamin E: may enhance the anticoagulant effect of warfarin or similar drugs.
High doses of Vitamin E can impair the absorption of Vitamins A and K.
β-Carotene, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E are considered safe with no known teratogenic effects, but should be used under medical supervision during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Hypersensitivity to any of the active ingredients or excipients.
Store below 30°C, in a dry place away from light and moisture.
